Die Blaskapelle wurde 1926 in Opgrimbie, einem Ortsteil von Maasmechelen, gegründet und ist Teil einer traditionsreichen Musikszene in der Region. Bei internationalen Wettbewerben erreichte sie 2017 den Vize-Weltmeistertitel mit 95,33 Prozent sowie 2023 und 2025 jeweils zweite Preise in Flandern und Italien. 2024 trat sie mit über 200 Sängern und Solisten in einer Aufführung von „Carmina Burana“ vor mehr als 1000 Zuschauern auf. Zum 100-jährigen Jubiläum 2026 kehrt die Kapelle zum World Music Contest zurück, wo ein eigens von Bert Appermont komponiertes Werk uraufgeführt wird; Dirigent ist Toon Rutten.
